Dr. Alex Dastgheib’s research and new classification of cataracts was the winner of the highly-coveted Challenging Cases Session at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) meeting in April 2022.

Katherine S. Peters, MD from Duke University Eye Center, presented the findings and new classifications that Dr. Dastgheib identified after successfully curing patients of cataract blindness in 325 consecutive cases. Winners of these presentations are voted on by ophthalmologists across the world and Dr. Dastgheib’s presentation was showcased in the “Challenging Cases” category.

Eye surgeons around the world can now take these new classifications and break down complex cases into more simple steps to restore vision in patients.
